Gun violence: A year in review

As 2023 is wrapping up, it would be useful to show how the year has been when it relates to gun violence. Overall, 2023 has fewer gun-related deaths than 2022, but the number is still relatively high.

A RECIPE TO BEAT BETHEL

Reigning Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) champions IU South Bend Titans are picking up right where they left off, starting this season 6-0. The Titans went 2-0 last week, beating the Bethel University Pilots on Nov. 15 with a score of 88-65 and the University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines on Nov. 11 with a score of 98-50.

Lights, camera, back in action: SAG-AFTRA strike ends in deal

On April 18, WGA members voted near-unanimously to go on strike – stop their screen-writing work – if a satisfactory deal with the AMPTP was not made by May 1. After lengthy negotiations and no agreement, the WGA saw its first unanimous strike vote in 15 years, with writers raising concerns about fair treatment and pay by their employers in the age of television streaming as well as job security in the age of AI.

Fall sports season is officially over at IU South Bend, and with winter sports getting into full swing, it is important to remember that our athletes are people too. The month of November is Men’s Health Awareness Month, which is a reminder to prioritize both physical and mental health. It’s also important for men to realize how their physical health and mental health may be intertwined.
