Welcome back to another week of Sip & Study! This week I spent time in Elkhart visiting Steelyard Coffee Co.
Steelyard is on 916 N Michigan St., which is about 30 minutes from IU South Bend and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m.- 3p.m.
I love the old, rustic feel inside the shop and how the baristas seem to really love it there too. The space is filled with unique vintage tables and furniture with plenty of seating. It’s always quiet inside as well, which is a plus. There are also lots of outlets and Wi-Fi offered too, which is helpful.
I tried the Reese in a Cup with oat milk and blonde espresso shots as well as Salted Caramel Chai with a blonde shot. I also ordered a cinnamon roll and coffee cake. Steelyard is one of the only places in the area that consistently offers peanut butter flavor syrup and offers blonde shots, which makes it a favorite coffee shop of mine.
The food menu primarily features pastries, quiches, oatmeal and sandwich options. The drink menu includes an extensive specialty coffee list, regular coffee, frappes, smoothies and more.
Although it’s a bit of a drive, it’s a favorite study spot of mine due to the calm atmosphere and lack of distractions. It’s easy to spend a long time there and focus, which is why I’d recommend it to students like me that need the peace and quiet to work on homework or study.
