Hello and welcome back to another semester of Sip & Study!  I’m so excited to be back and writing about more coffee shops in the South Bend area.

This week I decided to go to St. Joe Coffee Co. inside the library in downtown South Bend. It is located at 305 S. Michigan St. Despite being a coffee fanatic, I had never actually been here before, so I was super excited to visit.

St. Joe Coffee Co. is a tiny coffee shop with limited hours of 8-2 from Monday to Friday. The inside is adorable, with marble, fairy lights hanging from the walls and a clean feel. The barista on staff was playing the soundtrack from the Nintendo game Stardew Valley, which created a calm vibe.

There are only three tables in the cafe, but since it also happens to be in the brand new library, there’s extensive seating in the building for studying. It’s a perfect place for quiet work with any resource a student could need including outlets and Wi-Fi.

I ordered a fudge brownie mocha with oat milk. It was good, but not as strong or sweet as I expected. I can’t complain, though, because I loved how cheap the drinks were in comparison to many other coffee spots. There were also some sweets, such as cookies, for only $1, which I plan to try at a later date. One other neat detail I noticed is that the menu mentioned local contributing vendors such as Importin’ Joes, Cloud Walking, Bendix Coffee Roasters, Chips & Doodles, and Honey’s Bakery MG.

Overall, I really liked St. Joe Coffee Co. and would recommend it to other people. I feel like the prices and environment are ideal for students, and I’ll definitely be back soon.

Rating: 3/5 coffee cups
