DESERT OASIS. I spent a few weeks in Arizona this summer visiting family! This photo was taken at Tonto National Park in Strawberry, Arizona, a trail I highly recommend.

Staff-Writer & Cartoonist
Hello! I’m Emmalee Anglemyer, a newbie here at “The Preface”! I am a staff-writer and cartoonist, and I’m also about to start training to be a designer for the paper. I’m a third-year graphic design student from Edwardsburg, Michigan. I’ve lived in a whole bunch of places, coming from a military family, but I’ve been in the Michiana area for most of my life.
At home I have an evil black kitty named Beeper, and he is my little son. I am the oldest of 10 kids (including some adopted and some step), but most of my siblings live in Arizona with my mom. The kiddos who aren’t my mom’s stay in Elkhart with my dad, but I also have some grown siblings running around here somewhere. I enjoy spending time with my youngest brother, Owen (age two). We are best friends.
Currently, I am working two jobs outside of “The Preface”. I am a manager at Box Lunch in the University Park Mall, and a gallery monitor at the South Bend Museum of Art. I have a large rotation of hobbies outside of school and work! I enjoy drawing, reading, sewing and watching movies. I am a big horror movie fan, from the genuinely frightening, to the terrible and campy (in fact, the camp is what I live for).
I joined “The Preface” for a lot of reasons! I’d say the biggest ones, however, are my love for cartooning and my desire to break into jobs related to my major. I hope to gain as much varied experience as possible here! I am so excited to enhance my skills in writing, drawing and designing!
Some fun facts about me include: I own five sewing machines, I only have one full sibling out of the 9, and I am named after the little girl (Emily Elizabeth) from “Clifford: The Big Red Dog”, but my name is spelled differently because my dad’s middle name is “Lee” and he wanted to give it to me.
