Business in the Bend: Bonnie Doon Drive-In

South Bend is home to some of the most unique small businesses that offer one-of-a-kind experiences for residents and visitors to enjoy. From local restaurants to small boutiques, South Bend has adventures waiting for everyone.

The Bonnie Doon Drive-In has been around since 1941, which is no surprise considering the selection of menu items they offer. From ice cream options to salads, there truly is something for everybody.

The Bonnie Doon Drive-In offers typical at-window ordering as well as car-side service, where customers can place their orders through a speaker and have their food delivered to their window.

Menu items include mozzarella sticks, crinkle-cut fries, cheese dogs, chicken sandwiches, cheeseburgers, soups and so much more. My personal favorite menu section, however, is the ice cream. Strawberry shortcake, sundaes, smoothies, milkshakes, ice cream sandwiches and dozens of ice cream flavors are all available for a new treat at every visit.

While visiting for the first time, I decided to try the cheese fries and a hotdog with a small vanilla malt. My boyfriend got the barbeque cheese fries, and I will admit that there was not a bad bite of either of our choices.

Located at 2704 Lincolnway Ave. in Mishawaka, the Bonnie Doon Drive-In is a definite must-try for anybody looking for a fun retro stop or a sweet treat.
