In her heart-stirring and gracious concession speech, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the nation after the 2024 presidential election that saw Donald Trump emerge winner.
In front of her supporters in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 6, Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the nation after Donald Trump was named President-Elect.
Harris reflected on the defining issues and guiding principles of her campaign, sharing her honor in serving as the first woman vice president. She also congratulated President-Elect Trump and the Republican Party for their remarkable win.
“I extend my congratulations to former president Trump and his team for their victory this evening. Our democracy has once again survived, despite challenges,” Harris stated. “I believe that America is strong because of her people and the good that she represents, and we will remain united under the principles that have always made this land what it is: freedom, opportunity, and the pursuit of justice, regardless of who occupies that office in the future.”
Harris also thanked her supporters, running mate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, President Joe Biden and the millions of Americans who cast their ballots.
“I thank each one of you for believing in our vision of a more just and equitable future. Our mission does not end here. The battle for the soul of this nation goes on,” she said.
Harris said the values of equality, inclusion and progress would guide her continued fight for women and marginalized communities, whether she remains a public figure or returns as an activist.
She concluded by saying, “while our journey together may end, my pledge to this nation and to its people will remain.”
Here’s what Trump has planned for his next term

With his second term on the horizon, President-Elect Donald Trump has emphasized the continuation of his “America First” agenda in economic revival, national defense and social conservatism. Trump will try to play a hard line on the issues he sees as key in restoring America, be it to restore greatness at home or around the world after a divisive election season.
At the heart of his platform is bringing jobs back to America and lowering taxes, especially for corporations, offering U.S. companies tax breaks to bring home jobs from abroad. Trump has promised to cut back federal regulation, which he claims is choking economic growth. Another pillar of his platform is energy independence, where Trump has pledged to increase domestic oil and gas production and eliminate climate-based energy regulations, which he has blamed for job loss.
President-Elect Trump has also doubled down on border security, vowing to finish the U.S.-Mexico border wall and enforce stricter immigration measures. He pitches immigration as a key factor in preserving American jobs and making the nation safer.
Trump’s foreign policy takes a skeptical approach to international agreements and institutions. He has vowed to limit trade with China through increased tariffs, strengthen NATO’s defense commitments and reduce U.S. presence in overseas wars.
On the social front, Trump has reaffirmed his conservative bona fides on expanded gun rights, restrictions on abortion and conservative values in education. He has called for parents to have a say in education, fighting against what he sees as an increase of liberal indoctrination in the classroom.
Stepping into this post-election phase, Trump’s platform continues to be based on the idea of his notorious Make America Great Again slogan through populist language and pledges toward economic and cultural rejuvenation.
