On Sept 8, Sustainability Club hosted their first trash cleanup of the semester. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., they cleaned areas around River Crossing Campus Housing.
“We have gotten lucky the last couple times we have done this event with nice weather,” President Nikkie Blume said. “We want students to be able to walk around and see what they did; students don’t realize that we are more than people who just love trees and plants. It all has to do with mental and physical health. You don’t have to recycle to come to our event.”
The club hosts trash pickups once a month, and all are welcome to attend. The next two are Oct. 6 and Nov. 3, and the club will meet in front of Franklin D. Schurz Library.
Aside from the cleanups, they will host other events this fall, including a flower picking event with pumpkin pots on Oct. 5 and a nature walk at Bendix Woods on Oct. 29. For more information, follow the Sustainability Club page on Titan Atlas or keep up with them on Instagram @susclubatiusb.
