Have you heard? The Communication Department is beginning a new podcast. With the rise of podcasts in recent years, this project is set to provide IU South Bend with a new mode of communicating

Work for the podcast officially began in the fall of 2020. Matthew Mancino, graduate program director and visiting lecturer, worked with faculty to help students get experience with podcasting. In addition, the podcast is set to be a public relations tool.

The podcast will feature stories from the Communication Studies Department, Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts and the South Bend community.

As students are looking for ways to help them improve their skills, this podcast is created. There are many students and faculty interested about the podcast and are excited about it.

“The podcast is giving students the opportunity to explore new media to tell organizational stories,” Mancino said.

Unfortunately, the podcast won’t be launched until the fall of 2021. Details are still being worked out about how and where to listen to it.

The podcast remains unnamed but Mancino is holding a “Name the Podcast” contest between students and alumni. Students and alumni interested should contact Mancino at mattmanc@iu.edu with their name idea by Feb. 26.

The winner of the contest will receive an IU South Bend sweatshirt.
