Hello! I’m Paige Jones, a staff photographer for “The Preface” and a sophomore at IU South Bend. I joined “The Preface” in August and have been loving it ever since. I have always had a passion for photography, and I even took an elective class for it last semester. Ever since that class ended, however, I’ve been craving a creative outlet. “The Preface” has given me the ability to continue my hobby and share my passion with the rest of the students and faculty at IU South Bend.
When I first enrolled at IU South Bend, I was an English education major with the plan to teach at a nearby middle school. As of now, though, my major has changed just slightly to a history education major with a minor in creative writing. While my major may change again between now and when I graduate, I know for sure that my passion is education, and I will continue down that path.
I’ve always loved the arts, taking a special liking to photography because of a brand-new Canon camera gifted to me for Christmas from my supportive parents. My mom especially pushed for me to find a hobby that I loved and could fill my time with. Once I found that passion, I never stopped, and I’ve been taking pictures ever since. I am the proud photographer of my friend group, ensuring that every one of my friends looks amazing on their social media.
I take pride in the photos I take and seeing how excited my peers get when they see themselves in “The Preface”. I enjoy being able to contribute a little bit of happiness back to our campus, especially during stressful times like finals week!
