Hello! I’ve been writing at “The Preface” for two semesters, but I’ve never properly introduced myself. I think now is as good a time as ever.
My name is Jordan Sarver-Bontrager. I am a history major, formerly a music major. My main interest in life is music. I am passionate about music. I love rock music, and my two favorite bands are Coldplay and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I also have an interest in television and film. My favorite shows are “Breaking Bad”, “The Sopranos”, “Six Feet Under” and “Attack on Titan”. My favorite movies are “Pulp Fiction”, “The Shawshank Redemption”, “Glory” and “Goodfellas”. I am also a singer-songwriter, and I am in a band where I play lead guitar and sing lead vocals.
I joined “The Preface” in January because the editor-in-chief suggested I do music reviews. This has now expanded to all types of media. I’ve always loved writing about media, as I have surrounded myself with popular media for a majority of my life. When I was in high school, I would often write about the movies and television shows I liked at the time. I spent way too much time writing about “Game of Thrones” during high school (all that for absolutely no pay off). I enjoy working at “The Preface” because it’s nice to get paid writing about the things that I am interested in. I am looking forward to writing more throughout my time here at IU South Bend.
