IU South Bend has recently partnered with telehealth platform TimelyCare to provide enrolled students with 24-hour, free and confidential mental health resources.
While IU South Bend already offers free mental health counseling, their partnership with TimelyCare seeks to broaden its resources beyond the regular 9-5 schedule to accommodate people who may be unavailable during those times. Along with mental health counseling, TimelyCare also offers health coaching about nutrition, sleeping habits and other healthful lifestyle habits.
Derrick Patty, one of IU South Bend’s counselors, explains, “It is provided for students who work all day or have classes all day and cannot access the counseling center. So if they’re open to receiving telehealth services, it’s a resource that is available to them that’s free and confidential, just like our service.”
The IU South Bend Student Counseling Center is located in Suite 175 in the Administration Building for individual consultations, screenings, and regular therapy sessions. To access TimelyCare, go to timelycare.com/iu, register using your IU credentials, and press “get care” to begin.
For a more immediate mental health crisis, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255 or dial 911.
