Welcome back to another week of Sip & Study! This week, I decided to travel somewhere I’ve never been before: The French Press Coffee Co. in Plymouth. The shop is located at 110 W Laporte St.
My first impression was the earthy feel to the place, Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes) by Edison Lighthouse playing in the shop, and the wall with books on shelves. I was excited to see that my favorite trilogy was among these books and immediately felt at home.
The French Press Coffee Co. has a drink, breakfast and lunch menu and is open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The staff there is so friendly, and the latte I ordered was great. The coffee beans are roasted in house, and the food is all made from scratch, all the way down to the bread. I tried the bruschetta chicken sandwich and a piece of almond lemon poppyseed bread, both of which were delicious.
The shop seems to have a strong sense of community and loyal customers from what I observed when I visited which was really wonderful to see. It’s a quiet, welcoming space in a loud, busy world that I personally think we all could use more of.
The café has free WiFi as well as plenty of tables and outlets to charge devices if you’re a student that wants to work there.
When talking to Keegan, a manager and barista on staff, it was clear that the people working there love their community and have a passion for coffee. When asked his favorite drinks on the menu he said that he usually makes himself a mocha but also loves the rose matcha lemonade when it’s summer. For food, he suggested tomato basil soup or asiago bread with vegetarian goat cheese.
So far, this place has been my favorite coffee shop discovery since starting Sip & Study. I would love to try more of the drinks and pastries and hope to be back soon!
