Would you like a chance to have free housing and get paid for it? Then become a Resident Assistant for IU South Bend River Crossing Housing located across the bridge from campus.

Two information meetings took place Jan. 24 and Jan. 25 in the Community Building. Application packets are available at the front desk of the community building, but you can also contact Residence Coordinator Jennifer Brisco at jdbrisco@iu.edu.

If this job interests you, do not wait. The deadline for applications is Feb. 6 by 5 p.m. The term of work runs from Aug. to May. RAs are compensated with a bi-weekly stipend and free occupancy of a two-bedroom apartment.

IU South Bend considers residential living a valuable part of the educational process in which students participate when they agree to live in the residence halls.

“Resident Assistants help students develop responsible, concerned approaches to group living by supporting their efforts to understand themselves and others,” Brisco said. “RA’s also work with residents to create an environment conducive to living and learning. Each RA is expected to plan several programming events that meet the social, cultural and educational needs of residents.”

The RA position helps to teach individuals several life skills, such as time management, interpersonal skills, communication skills, emergency management and more. You, as an RA, will be able to meet several new students and interact with them on a personal level.

If you are looking for a way to be social while living close to campus this is the perfect opportunity to do just that. This position will not be open for long! More information can be found on their website at iusb.edu/housing.
