Hello! My name is Karley, and I am a senior here at IU South Bend. While I am counting down the days until graduation, I am very excited to spend my last semester with The Preface. I am a communications major with a concentration in organizational communication and a minor in interpersonal communication. I have a passion for public speaking and plan to make a career out of it after graduating.
I am from La Porte and make an hour-long commute to campus four to five days a week. While this is not the most ideal, I enjoy being able to live at home and stay close to family. I have lived in La Porte for almost my whole life. I moved to Florida from junior to senior year of high school. I decided Indiana is home and plan on staying here for a long time.
I spend much of my free time hanging around my boyfriend and my family. I have recently been hooked on the board game Ticket To Ride. Other than this, some of my favorites include pastel colors, the TV show Friends, and collecting Squishmallows.
Starting at The Preface is not something I would have ever envisioned myself doing. Up until meeting Ken, The Preface advisor, I thought journalism was the last thing I would enjoy doing. I took one of his editing classes, and realized I was better than I thought. I am beyond excited to see where this semester takes me, hopefully into a career within journalism. Although my time here at The Preface will be short and sweet, I plan on making the most of my experience.
