New year, new you? This new club is the perfect way to jump into a new (or existing) hobby. The IU South Bend Book Club is coming to campus this semester. The club will be focused on reading and group discussions about books.

The book club will hold its first meeting on Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. in conference room L406 on the fourth floor of the library. The club plans to meet at this time on the last Tuesday of every month; however, the meeting location is subject to change for future meetings.

While the club focuses mainly on fiction books, the club will be open for suggestions for different genres. Make sure to bring your book recommendations to the first meeting for the group to vote on the first book to read. There will be a month between each meeting, in which each member will be expected to come ready to discuss the previous book, and choose the book for the following month. There will also be light refreshments provided at each meeting.

Founder and President Shelby Alexander is excited to share her passion for reading with IU South Bend.

“I’ve always loved reading,” Alexander said. “I used to work at Barnes & Noble, and I realized my favorite part of the job was talking to other people about the books that we have both read and enjoyed.” She said she is ready to see what different books everyone is ready to read for the semester.

For more information and updates, join the IU South Bend Book Club Titan Atlas page. While joining the Titan Atlas page is not necessary for meeting attendance, it will provide extra details. Also, check out the IUSB book club’s official Instagram page: @IUSB_BookClub.
