The Preface is currently looking to fill internship and paid positions for the Spring 2023 semester. We are looking for passionate writers, cartoonists, photographers, social media managers and columnists.
Intern positions are open for students of all majors; a journalism background is not required. One-semester internships are worth three class credits. Paid positions are also available but are limited.
Interns and staff members should be able to join us during our weekly meetings on Fridays at 1 p.m. throughout the semester. Additional work, including interviewing and writing, is required on a weekly basis. Workload will be fairly consistent, but staff may put in the necessary hours as their own schedule permits.
Staffers are responsible for producing weekly content for online and print publications in a factual way. They should be able to communicate quickly and effectively with the IU South Bend community, as well as other Preface staff and editors, in order to produce quality work.
Experience in journalistic writing is not required, though staffers and interns must be willing to learn basic Associated Press Style formatting. Students with other skill sets, such as photography, art and social media content creation, are also encouraged to apply and may work primarily in those capacities, rather than writing.
