Welcome back to another coffee shop review featuring some of the wonderful cafes in the South Bend area! As usual, I am so excited to share my love for coffee with the IU South Bend Community and feature a well-known local shop this week.
Kodachrome Coffee, formerly known as Zen, is a cafe in the downtown South Bend area that has been around since 2010. The shop is located at 530 E. Lasalle Ave. in South Bend.
Kodachrome has been a staple for coffee over the years, known for the high quality coffee served and sourced into the South Bend Community. Many other breakfast spots around town use the beans that Kodachrome roasts for their coffee.
The coffee shop itself has a modern feel with wooden furniture and plants lining the walls. They also sell local art and other fun oddities, such as vintage cameras.
They have plenty of seating, free Wi-Fi and a couple of places to charge laptops or phones. It also tends to be one of the quieter spots in town to sit and study. I have never had a problem getting a seat, even when it is busy.
The espresso at Kodachrome is significantly stronger than other shops. I also think they have the best lavender syrup in the area. This time when I visited, I tried one of the newer drinks, a brown sugar latte. I have never disliked a drink I’ve ordered at Kodachrome, which speaks for itself.
The cafe is an ideal environment for studying and productivity. It’s an extremely peaceful space with little to no distractions. I would recommend it to students looking for a quiet space to work on homework and study.
