The Honors Program will take a trip to Chicago for its annual fall excursion.
The program hosts a trip each semester, recently traveling to Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island for the Spring 2022 semester.
They plan to leave campus on a bus on Nov. 5 for a full day of experiences beginning at 8 a.m. and plans to return home around 8 p.m.
A trip to the National Museum of Mexican Art will showcase the works of several Mexican artists, divided into various galleries. The group will be divided into three, rotating between current exhibits including Nuestras Historias: Stories of Mexican Identity from the Permanent Collection; Día de Muertos: Memories & Offerings; and Surrounding Kahlo: Works from the Permanent Collection.
“The museum hosts a self-guided tour of outdoor murals painted by Mexican artists, so we’ll follow that guide to learn more about artists and their work,” Dr. Neovi Karakatsanis, Karrie Jean, and Emilee Edmonds announced in their letter to Honors students.
Attendees will enjoy lunch at Greek Islands, a restaurant locally known in Chicago. They will also be free to explore the Lincoln Park Zoo before heading home.
The trip in total will cost more than $50 per student, but attendees are only asked to contribute $20.
