Club officer training sessions were held on Oct. 11 and Oct. 19 for students to understand the importance of student-run clubs and organizations.
Clubs at IU South Bend are independently run by students, making club officer training required in order to receive funding and access to amenities. Some of these amenities include access to the SAC club rooms, event reservations, and popcorn machine and nacho stand usage.
Additionally, for clubs to be eligible for funding they must also have at least five members, including a president and treasurer.
The club funding has changed quite a bit this year since the bursar office is no longer active. Clubs are required to create their own bank account and fill out forms with the IRS. This process is more difficult, but assistance is available by reaching out to Eileen Villanueva on campus.
For clubs that have funds left over from when the bursar’s office was still active, the Student Government Association can be reached out to in regard to transferring the funds once the club bank account has been made.
