My name is Kerry, and I am currently a junior. I am an English major with a minor in professional writing, and my primary goal is to become a journalist. Since I am not entirely sure how sustainable this will be, I will also consider becoming a professor, because I already have plans to receive schooling beyond the undergraduate level.

I joined the Preface because I wanted proper writing experience, because the writing that I usually do on my own ultimately leads nowhere, and I know that I will improve at a much faster rate if the writing is structured.

I am hoping that writing with this sense of structure, and with somewhat of an audience, will make me a better writer and help me realize that a good finished product is worth much more than an unfinished product that has had every detail picked apart, dissected and scoured over. Not only this, but having experience writing for a newspaper does look good on a resume and will increase my chances of landing a job that I want once I’m in the workforce.

When I am not writing, I like to hang out with my friends, read and listen to music. What I am most looking forward to this year is watching and documenting my progress as a writer and an artist. I am at a point in my life where I’m becoming very dedicated to my improvement, but also making sure that I’m enjoying it, too.
