By: Morgan Watters
Staff-Writer/Cartoonist
Hi, my name is Morgan Watters and I am a junior at IU South Bend. My major is Drawing and Painting, and I am working towards getting a minor in Art History.
I joined the Preface because Chloe Teal, a dear friend and former student at IU South Bend, recommended that I join. Being an art student, I tend to do less writing so this is a perfect opportunity to stretch my skill set. The Preface is also a perfect job for those who require a flexible schedule, and flexibility is something that I always need.
I would describe myself as kind, passionate and quirky. A lot of my oddities can be seen in much of my artwork, as well as home decorations. I was born in South Bend but I did not live here until recently for college. My hometown is actually in Muncie, so moving back to South Bend was quite the distance.
The Preface is not my only job; I am also currently working on book covers and freelance artwork. I do not have much time for school-related activities, so my only club involvement this year is the Art Club. I do have many great friends and acquaintances across the art department that have made the art studio fun and inviting. My professors are also very supportive and caring.
In my free time, I love to watch movies, play video games and spend time with my dog. My dog Elliott, who is a nine year old toy poodle, goes everywhere possible with me. He’s been through almost every major part of my life, and I will continue to bring him along for many more adventures.
I am also a big family gal. Family is very important to me, so I try to spend as much time with them as possible. Driving home is not always possible so facetime has become one of my favorite apps.
If you ever need to find me, definitely look in the art studio because that is where I spend most of my time!
