A message from Chancellor Elrod shared updated enrollment information for the 2022-2023 school year with increases in beginning, transfer and graduate students.

The Fall 2022 enrollment numbers show an increase in beginning freshmen by over 10 percent more than last year’s class. Additionally, transfer student numbers increased by over five percent, and students seeking a graduate degree increased by more than six percent.

Positive trends also continued with student body demographics, reflecting the diverse community.

Approximately 31 percent of the IU South Bend student body is made up of underrepresented students of color. The number of Hispanic/Latino students on campus also grew by almost 11 percent.

Elrod also mentioned that nearly 40 percent of students are now first-generation students.

Additionally, 79 more students joined the Honors Program on campus, totaling 374 students this semester.
