Hello all, my name is Taya Stewart and I’m a sophomore here at IU South Bend. I am majoring in Dental Hygiene and plan to strive and thrive through these next three years of it with a class full of some amazing girls.
I joined The Preface because I love writing and storytelling. I think this is a perfect space for me to be able to show my talents and gifts in a way that is not only fun but also makes money! I love writing topics about news, politics, people, and events. This is not my first job, as I still work at a hospital as a dietary aide on the weekends in my hometown.
I would describe myself as a gregarious person who enjoys learning new ways to help the community not only around me but worldwide. Upon graduation, I plan to work locally in my hometown in the hopes of eventually traveling to different parts of the world caring for people and their oral health. I was born in Ethiopia, a northeastern country in Africa, but have lived most of my life here in northern Indiana.
Aside from The Preface, I am also involved in Delight Ministries this year. Since I commute, this has allowed me to make friends and meet people on campus. I joined Delight because I wanted to meet some Jesus-loving girls who share and study His love in a fun and valuable way.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking and baking sweets. I am a huge food lover, so it’s not unusual for you to see me hitting up the local farmers markets or outdoor fruit and or vegetable stands. I also enjoy distance running, and shopping whenever I get paid. Whenever possible, I like watching movies and reading. Looking forward, I hope to continue making friends, learning new things, and enjoying my sophomore year.
