Celebrate the end of the 2021-2022 school year with the History Club! The History Club is taking a trip to Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula from May 11-14.
The trip will include outings to many historical and natural sites, such as colonial Michlimackinac and St. Ignace Museum, Fort Mackinac on Mackinac Island and Richard & Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum, the Upper Peninsula, specifically WhiteFish Point Station, Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and Tahquamenon Falls. And finally, the group will visit Sleeping Bear Dunes, local shops and Gwen Frostic Art Studio.
History Club Treasurer and senior Seth Stine commented on why this trip is a good investment. “Students should go on the trip because it provides them with the opportunity to learn about a history that is not so far away,” said Stine. “Mackinac is so different from South Bend, Indiana, and the experiences from the trip will be something students remember for a lifetime.”
The cost of the trip is $40.00, which will cover most of the trip expenses, including lodging, transportation and most admissions. Food is not included. The Club will only accept cash payments. If interested, please contact Club Treasurer Seth Stine (sestine@iu.edu) or Professor Tim Willig (twillig@iusb.edu).
The History Club hopes to see you there!
