In the absence of many senators, staffers and their faculty advisor, the Student Government Association held a brief meeting on Friday, Nov. 5 primarily to discuss committee reports.
The safety committee, chaired by senior Anna Roberts, said they are preparing for their annual safety walk with IUPD to identify locations on campus that could be made more visible, better lit, or otherwise safer at night.
The philanthropy committee announced the beginning of their club drive competition for the Family Justice Center of St. Joseph County. All clubs are welcome to participate by dropping their donations off at the Student Government office in the SAC. Club leaders that are interested in participating or want more information can contact philanthropy committee chair Lia Azcuna at lazcuna@iu.edu.
The student engagement committee is in the process of reaching out to active clubs and encouraging them to increase their social media presence. The SGA continues to encourage clubs to increase their online activity, both on Titan Atlas and social media platforms, to increase the audience they reach.
The SGA meets publicly every Friday from 10-12 in SAC 206. All students, especially club leaders and students interested in submitting funding requests or new club proposals, are welcome to attend.
