Hi! I am Kate Luce, the Editor-in-Chief for The Preface this semester. While this is not my first time as an Editor, it will be the last time I will be on the paper. I will graduate in December with a double major, a BFA in Printmaking and BFA in Painting and Drawing, as well as receiving a minor in Journalism.
At IU South Bend, I am also the Community Outreach Intern/Student Editor for Aspire, Ernestine Raclin School of the Art’s annual magazine.
In my freetime, I mostly draw. I love to thrift (it’s a problem, haha). I really enjoy cooking. I also love spending time with my boyfriend, Thatcher.
My name is Alyssa Foster, and I am excited to be one of the Co-Editor’s for The Preface this school year! I am currently a junior here at IU South Bend, and I have been writing for The Preface for a little under a year, and I have absolutely loved the people I have met and the experiences that have come with it. I previously wrote for the newspaper at LaPorte High School where I was also the editor, and I have published work for LaPorte County Life through GreatNews.Life. I have been obsessed with writing since my sophomore year of high school, so I am excited to carry my passion into this school year as well.
When I am not writing, you can find me working at one of my other jobs. I currently work at Federated Media where I am a board operator for high school sports, as well as a producer for MNC News/Talk 95.3. I also work part-time at Old Navy with some of the greatest people I have met!
I love to surround myself with friends and family, and I am always looking to try new activities. Please feel free to reach out to say hello! I love getting to know people on campus, and I am looking forward to putting out news for the IU South Bend community to enjoy!
Hi I am Mabel Myers! I am one of the Co-Editors of The Preface. This is my third year on staff. I am a secondary English education major with a minor in journalism. I love teaching and learned this passion after I began substitute teaching last school year. When I graduate, I hope to teach high school English and journalism.
While I am not writing for The Preface, you can find me working in WaNee Community Schools or at Starbucks. I am also engaged to my wonderful fiancé, Mason. We have a sweet three-month-old puppy named Edna Lou. I love Disney World, and I go any chance I get. I am so excited to be on campus once again this semester, so if you see me around say hi!
Hello, everyone! My name is Cassidy Martenson, and I am the Community Outreach Specialist/Co-Editor this semester. I am a senior Communication Studies major with a concentration in public relations and a minor in business administration. My passion is non-profit work and after graduation I will begin working in the volunteer sector of the nonprofit industry while pursuing my MBA at IU South Bend.
In my free time, you can find me doing Pilates, weight training, shopping or spending time with family (pictured with me). I currently live on campus (Bridge) with my roommate/co-editor, Alyssa, and my bunny, Oatmeal. Feel free to say hi if you ever see me on campus! I am always looking for a new adventure or opportunity. I look forward to working for the IU South Bend community this semester and learning more about the wonderful things happening on campus.
