A funding request for the upcoming Riverfest event was discussed and passed during Friday’s Student Government Association meeting.

Titan Productions is planning to host their annual Riverfest event after cancelling it last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Riverfest event is an end-of-year celebration for students to gather and enjoy free food, music and games.

This year’s Riverfest will be a “scaled-back” event, according to Jacob Zell, Resident Assistant. Social distancing as well as mask wearing will be enforced.

This year’s event is planned to host two bands, The Icarus Account and Arts Fishing Club, and there will be food and pre-made giveaway bags for students to enjoy.

The event plans are still being worked out, but a total of $2,948 was requested from the SGA to go towards food and giveaway expenses. A motion to provide the full amount of up to $2,948 was passed.

The SGA is currently planning for the upcoming elections. Students participating in the elections should be sure to follow rules for campaigning. Students should also feel free to ask any questions if they are uncertain of whether a form of campaigning is allowed.

Graduation plans for the 2020 and 2021 classes are still being finalized, though students will be required to get a COVID-19 test. Students who have received the full vaccination may be exempt.
