Titan Baseball: shutting out the competition

The Titans baseball team faced another conference team and came out with the sweep to bring them to a now, 5-3 record in the CCAC.

The team faced Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ) and won the first game 10-3 with sophomore Robbie Berger leading the team defensively on the mound with a career high 11 strikeouts. Berger pitched for six innings, and senior Matt Smith came in the final inning and allowed no hits. 

Offensively, the team worked together to get runners on base in scoring positions and hitting them in. Sophomore Logan Smith, junior Colin Mack and senior Scottie Stetz all collected doubles on the day. Senior Logan Young, senior TJ DeHerrera, sophomore Jared Bias, Mack, L Smith and Stetz all collected RBI’s. 

The Titans were able to shut out the Crimson Wave completely after winning the second game in a shutout of 11-0. Sophomore Zack Dobos led the team defensively on the mound with a career high of nine strikeouts and only allowed four hits. Dobos pitched the entire seven inning game and only threw 101 pitches. 

Offensively, the team pulled through with 11 hits, and Bias going 3-3 with two RBI’s. Young worked at the plate going 3-4, and junior Tyler Welborn went 2-3. Senior Jordan Moore, Bias, and Welborn all collected doubles on the day, where Young collected a triple. Junior Nolan Lorenz, DeHerrera, Young, Welborn, Moore, and Bias all had RBIs.
