Budget requests and proposed allocations for the 2021-2022 school year were approved during Friday’s meeting and will be released to those who requested after further approval from Chancellor Elrod.
A total of $1,193,588 was requested from departments and a combined total of $520,149 was proposed to be allocated. This number is about $40,000 less than the total allocated for the 2020-2021 school year.
The SGA approved five of 12 departments to receive 100% of their requested budget. Other departments were approved anywhere between 13-91%.
Policies for the upcoming summer and fall semesters were also discussed and will continue being looked at as the pandemic shifts. Masks are currently still required while on campus, though vaccination records will be considered as the new terms grow closer. As the pandemic heads into a different direction, the SGA will address the situation and will keep students, staff and faculty up to date.
A funding request was presented to the SGA this past meeting. The Nursing Program has been approved for $2,700 for their NSA Conference after it was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds from last year were extended and will be used to hold the conference this year.
There is currently a large surplus of funds for group and club use. Any group or club in need of funds is encouraged to submit a request to the SGA. The SGA candidate application deadline has ended, and elections will begin in just a few weeks. The SGA held two Meet the Candidates forums on March 25 and March 28.
