IU South Bend has multiple work-study positions open in different departments on campus, some of the open positions are with IU Office of School Partnerships, Franklin D. Schurz Library, Health, and Wellness Center, and Financial Aid & Scholarships office.

Work-study is approved part-time employment on or off-campus during the academic year or summer. Students are encouraged to apply for work-study funds through Financial Aid by April 15 or request funds through the Finacial Aid office up to three weeks before the end of the semester.

According to an email sent out by Cory Iwaszewski, There will soon be a new position going live via handshake through student’s IU Career application with the IU Office of School Partnerships. Student’s responsibility will including working with other IU students across all IU campuses to gather information on how each campus is working to better the curriculum within P-12 education through courses, research, programs, and initiatives within the state of Indiana.

“Currently the library is starting to look for summer and fall employees. We hire students (any class level) to work hours between 8 a.m. and midnight during regular (fall/spring) semesters. Our summer hours are reduced. Due to COVID, I do not yet have a confirmation on our summer hours. The library actually hires for multiple departments (archives, administration, collections & access support, Wiekamp Educational Resource Commons, circulation, interlibrary loan). At this time, circulation is the only department starting to staff for the upcoming semesters”, said Circulation Supervisor Katherin Plodowski.

Plodowiski said that in a normal year they hire both work-study and non-work study students but due to campus tightening their budget, they are asked to hire only work-study students if possible.

The Health and Wellness Center is looking for Medical assistants, EMTs, or LPN’s for the different positions they have listed on their HR website. Their website allows students to search for specific criteria that fit their skills, schedule, and experience when applying.

The Office of Finacial Aid is looking for a student who has experience with Excel, spreadsheet tracking, data entry, and customer service skills. The hours are based on student availability Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All positions and hours on campus are fit to meet student’s academic schedules and skills. Career Ambassador Hasan Alsaymary said that he works 10 to 13 hours a week and decides his hours to fit his schedule. He applied for his work-study position online through The Career Services Office (CSO).

All positions are available to apply for through each department.
