Honor’s students will once again be able to slide into a fun winter activity.
The IU South Bend Honors Program is planning a tubing trip at St. Patrick’s Park. on Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
This first-time event is planned for up to 40 honors students to enjoy a night of tubing down the park’s hill with other members of the honors program. Tubes will be provided by the part, and a warming station will be available for student use with hot chocolate and pre-packaged snacks.
“The honors program tries to do a winter event every year,” Paige Closson, Honors Program Intern, explained. “In Fall 2019, we did attempt this same event. Unfortunately, each date was cancelled due to lack of snow.”
This year, the Honors Program has rented the park’s hill and warming station and will follow solid COVID procedures.
“We will be very strict in how many people are allowed in the warming station at any given time; the maximum is 15 people,” Closson said.
Masks will also be worn at all times, even while outdoors.
Students can RSVP through Titan Atlas and should follow the registration link to choose their arrival and departure times. Students will choose between 7:30 p.m. and 8:05 p.m. with five-minute gap options. Departure times directly correlate with the scheduled arrival times, beginning at 9:30 p.m.
This event is weather-permitting, and students who have RSVP’d will be notified via e-mail if there is a cancellation.
