IUSB Bookstore plans to remain open for in-person business

By: Alyssa Foster

The IU South Bend Bookstore will remain open on limited hours for the rest of the semester.

While classes have converted to an entirely online schedule, the IU South Bend Bookstore will remain open to students in order to collect rental returns. Rentals for the Fall Semester are due on Dec. 19.

The bookstore will be operating on a limited schedule. They will be open Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. until the week of finals during which they will be open Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

To avoid being charged a late fee on rentals, students should have their books returned before the store closes on Dec. 19. If students cannot return their materials in person, they have the option to purchase a label to mail their books back.

“The cost is $5 and can be paid using a Credit Card or PayPal. All you will need to do is package them up, put on the label and drop them off at your local UPS store,” Amelia Carpenter, IU South Bend Bookstore Manager, said.

If students have lost or damaged their textbooks, they can choose the “Buy Books” option in their rental reminder emails or in their IU South Bend Bookstore account.

While classes will remain virtual for the first two weeks of the spring semester, students will be able to purchase and/or rent textbooks from the bookstore.

“You will be able to purchase your items in store or order them online to ship to you or have made available for curbside pickup,” Carpenter said.

Store hours for the Spring have not yet been announced, although students who choose to have their books mailed to them will have free shipping available on order over $49.

Students planning to return or pick up books in person, as well as those wanting to sell their textbooks to the store, must bring their Crimson Card for verification.
