With everything going on between COVID, classes being online and places being closed then slowly reopening with restrictions, it seems like not a whole lot of good has happened. However, one good thing to happen in 2020 is Marvel and Square Enix’s newest release.
On Sept. 4, Marvel and Square Enix released Marvel’s Avengers. Many, if not all, Marvel fans have been waiting for this game to drop. Personally, this game is one of the best I have played so far, and anyone that has the game and has been playing it could probably agree. The gameplay consists of action and fighting.
In the game, you unlock six heroes; Ms. Marvel, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, and Black Widow, who you can eventually choose to play as. Each character has their own campaign storyline as well as their own move set and fighting style. The major gameplay is a campaign/storyline, although there are non-campaign missions or side missions that come along with each character that you unlock.
The storyline of the game is a company, known as AIM, which is run by the antagonist, Tarleton. AIM sabotages the Avengers, causing an explosion. After the explosion, the Avengers were deemed the bad guys by AIM, which caused the Avengers to disband. The explosion causes certain people to become exposed to the blast, giving them powers. These special people are called Inhumans. AIM had portrayed these people as dangerous so others would avoid them. After sabotaging the Avengers, AIM took all of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s technology and used it for their own gain, which was to capture the Inhumans for a study for a “cure.” In reality, they’re using the “cure” to hide the fact that they’re torturing and stealing the Inhumans’ powers, so another character, Monica, can make her own army of “heroes.” Tarleton, later known as M.O.D.O.K., was Monica’s boss. In the continued campaign, Monica makes clones of villains, such as Taskmaster and Abomination.
She [Monica] studied the technology enough to learn how to make clones and continued to create her army. Tarleton wanted to kill all the Inhumans, so the world would be normal again. Monica, on the other hand, was using Tarleton as an experiment. She was injecting him with a serum that makes him smarter and able to control technology with his mind.
I recommend that you give this game a try, especially if you’re a fan of the Avengers, action/story games, or both. This game is definitely worth a try and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
