I always love to hear what other people are reading because it introduces you to new reads that you might not have discovered otherwise. Every week I recommend some new reads to you but I was curious: What books are the readers of The Preface devouring?

Today, I share with you some highly recommended readers from YOU! So, grab a pen and paper and add these page turners to your to-read lists!

Watching You by Lisa Jewell

For those of you who are into mystery and thrillers, Watching You is a strongly recommended candidate. It takes place in a nice neighborhood, Melville Heights, in England which turns out to be filled with secrets.

Tom Fitizwilliam, the headmaster at the local school, just has a new neighbor, Joey Mullen move in next door. Soon after moving in, Mullen quickly falls for Fitzwilliam whose son, eager to become a spy, observes the entire thing unraveling.

Fitzwilliam’s son, Freddie notices how Mullen acts around his father. However, this is not the only line of obsession on that street. Read this intense, page-turner to untangle the web that stretches through Melville Heights.

The Sustainability Champion’s Guidebook: How to Transform Your Company by Bob Willard

For those interested in Sustainability, the environment, and how they can make a difference, this book is a must-read. While it does focus on the business and company based approach to becoming more sustainable, it does so in a manner that anyone, regardless of their involvement in a company, can enjoy and take helpful tips away from the guide.

It outlines transformational steps to take along with helpful tips along the way as well as a list of “derailers” to avoid.

Willard’s writing remains down to earth, easy to read, and witty and is laid out in a manner that makes it easy to reference at a later time. If you want to learn more about being a champion for sustainability within a company or just your daily life than order a copy of this guide and you are well on your way to making a difference.

The World According to Bob: The Further Adventures of One Man And His Street-wise Cat by James Bowen

If you love cats, then this is the book for you! The impact animals can have on our lives is often overlooked but this book is a personal attestation to the way animals can change our lives for the better.

Written by James Bowen, it is his second book which focuses on his tabby cat, Bob. Since Bob entered his life he went from a homeless drug addict to a successful author still on a journey with his lovable street cat. This is an easy, enjoyable read that is both humorous and eye-opening as well as a beautiful reflection on overcoming  adversity.

The Water Cure by Sophie Mackintosh

This dystopic, feminist read follows three sisters: Grace, Lia, and Sky, who live on an island with their mother and father, King. The woman live, afraid of men, trapped behind  barbed wire and surrounded by water.

There is no escape– but there is also added protection. They believe they are safe from the outside world until their father disappears and three mysterious men wash ashore.

This book explores the tension, fear, and desire that arises between the three men and the sisters as they come face to face, for the very first time, with male outsiders. It strongly puts an emphasis on feminism, dystopian ideas, and what it means to be protected versus trapped.
