Hey y’all! I’m Mabel Myers and I am currently a sophomore here at IU South Bend. I am a journalism major with minors in photojournalism and Spanish. This is my first semester as a staff writer for The Preface, and my second semester here on campus.
I spent my first semester at Valparaiso University where I started as a nursing major. I decided this wasn’t for me after completing one physiology and anatomy class.
I am currently working as an engineering intern at the Elkhart County Highway Department and a lens edger at Nappanee Family Eyecare as well as being a staff writer for the Preface.
In the future I have no clue what I really want to do. One of the major options I have considered for my future is working at Walt Disney World in Orlando.
The one dream job I have always wanted is to work as a princess in Walt Disney World. Well, merchandising will have to do as next semester I will be moving to the happiest place on Earth to take part in the Disney College Program. After the program is over, I plan to come back to IU South Bend and finish my degree.
Here are some fun facts about me: concerts are my biggest weakness. I will drop almost anything for the chance to go. I went to eight of them this summer at Ruoff Home Mortgage Center.
I live for country music; Luke Bryan is my absolute favorite.
Sunflowers and roses are my favorite flower combinations. I love to go to the sunflower fields in the fall to snap photos or even just get some fresh cut flowers.
I have a very sarcastic personality. When I am being extra sarcastic, I get a southern accent. I say y’all more than the average person.
I prefer summer to the rest of the seasons. I absolutely hate being cold. I have a dog named Ellie, she is a dorkie [Dachshund Yorkie mix]. Even though she is little, she is still my Jeep dog. We love taking rides during the summer with the top off.
I am totally and helplessly obsessed with Disney. I have been to the happiest place on Earth 15 times and even had my senior pictures taken there. My mom and I got matching Mickey Mouse tattoos for my eighteenth birthday.
As basic as it may sound, I love traveling. My favorite thing to do is find a vineyard vines everywhere I go. I am in love with the little whale stickers.
I hope y’all got to know me a little better. I can’t wait to see what life will bring for me. If you see me around campus stop and say hi, I’d love to tell you more about the pageant or the Disney College Program.
