I started college in 2016, attending Ball State University for 2 years before deciding it wasn’t the perfect fit for me or my budget. I was a declared Journalism major for the majority of my time at Ball State before I realized I didn’t like newswriting, I just liked to write. I also knew I wanted to help others.

I switched to Public Relations, knowing that’s exactly what I would be doing. I want to help people pursue their dreams in pursuit of my own.

After months of soul searching, I moved to an unfamiliar area and began commuting to Indiana University- South Bend. Within one semester, the opportunities and communication started flowing and it felt like home.

I started working at a local health food store in Mishawaka, Garden Patch Market, where the amazing owners took me in and put me to work. They gave me projects to start promoting their small, but surprisingly abundant mom and pop shop. I took in so much knowledge regarding healthy living and holistic healing, something I never thought I’d care so much about.

There are so many things that I care about now. The Preface has given me the opportunity to work with others, while doing something that I actually like to do. Once I completed my internship, I didn’t want it to be over. It felt like school and work were finally aligning and making sense. Working in Advertising to engage customers and grow awareness is the goal, but the people that I have met through these opportunities have taught me to care more deeply about things, even when they don’t directly involve me. For that, I am very grateful.

Currently, I’m a “senior”, but I have a few semesters to go.  I’m living 5 minutes away from school in a one- bedroom apartment with my puffball cat, Appa. Basically the “dream” for a person like myself. When I’m not at work or in class, I entertain myself with cooking, some good tunes, and my pals.

Summer has come to an end. I am looking forward to what this new semester will bring us!
