Men’s basketball Senior Night ends in disappointment

In what has been a disappointing season for men’s basketball, Senior Night on Feb. 13 on didn’t raise any spirits.

The last home game of the regular season for the IU South Bend Titans ended in a blowout 95 to 70 against the Governors State University Jaguars.

This is a game that was close at the half with the Titans down 38 to 37. Both teams traded shots in a contested first half and it looked like the game was going to come down to the wire.

However poor defense mixed with inefficient shooting cost the Titans the game in a second-half blowout. The Titans shot at 35.1 percent from the field in the second, compared to the Jaguars’ outstanding 81.5 percent.

From the three it was just as bad for the Titans. The Titans shot 1-for-11 compared to the Jaguars high clip of 9-for-12 from three. This resulted in the Titans being outscored 57 to 33 in the second half.

What broke things open for the Jaguars was a 14-0 point run that started at the 10-minute mark. That run spanned over several minutes. From there the Titans didn’t have the defense to make a comeback.

The Jaguars run consisted of multiple three-pointers and a few Titan turnovers.

The top performer for the Titans was Miles Tracy. Tracy led the Titans in scoring, rebounding and assists with 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Rashaan Jackson, the only senior of the group, scored two points with two boards and two assists in his last game at the SAC.
