Titans storm victory at home

The men’s Titan basketball team had a bounce back win against a strong Saint Ambrose team, winning 91-87 on Jan. 19, at home.

This game began at a pretty slow pace where no one was really taking advantage of the slow start. However, towards the five-minute mark of the first half, the Titans gained momentum and built an eight point lead going into halftime.

The Titans this season have been known to get off to slow starts to begin the second half and it has cost them some victories. The Titans did get off to a slow start and the Saint Ambrose Bees came out firing shots from deep and capitalizing on the pace.

While the Titans were a bit sluggish that didn’t last long as they went on their own little run midway through the second half and they never let the Bees take the lead.

Dylan Allen was lights out tonight as he had 19 points on 5-10 shooting and 3-4 from deep and was tied for the leading scorer of the team.

Towards the end of the game the Titans had a couple costly turnovers that the Bees were able to capitalize and get points on the board to bring them back into the game. Myles Simmons was not letting the Bees win this game he made 13-14 free throws to seal the victory for the Titans. Simmons also had 19 total points for the game.

Thanks to a great team effort the Titans were able to shoot 53 percent from the field and 52 percent from deep. The Titans made a statement tonight that regardless of their record the season isn’t over yet and they are not going anywhere. The Bees move on to 6-6 in conference play.
