On Dec. 6, the Honors Program is hosting their annual holiday party with a twist: Cookies, Cocoa, and Canvas. Fellow Honors student and Fine Arts major, Kate Luce, will be leading the event by instructing the painting.

“Every winter, the Honors Program holds a holiday party for its members. After seeing the success and student enjoyment of other canvas painting events on campus, we decided to incorporate this into our holiday party–with cookies and cocoa, of course” explained Gabby Garver, president of the Honors Program.

Luce will include two paintings for Honors students to choose to paint from: a beautiful Christmas tree and a whimsical snowman.

Food available at the event will include a hot chocolate bar with different cocoa flavors, add-ins and toppings, as well as sugar cookies to decorate and eat, according to Garver.

The Honors Program will also carry on the beloved tradition of having an ugly sweater contest. Attending members vote on the best one and a prize will be given to the winner.

The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening. Honors members can attend the event at no cost.

To attend, Honors students must RSVP via Titan Atlas. Honors Program Student Coordinator Paige Closson can be contacted for questions at pclosson@iu.edu.

Future Honors Program events include volunteering at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, attending the Nutcracker Ballet at the Morris Performing Arts Center, and additional events and service projects when classes resume in the spring. For more information on these events, follow the Honors Program’s Titan Atlas page.
