Experience the new Vera Z. Dwyer Hall on Friday, Sept. 28 from 1-4 p.m. Healthy food, testing and many more offerings will be available throughout the tailgate.
The Healthy Titan Tailgate is a gathering at Vera Z. Dwyer Hall. There will be tables set up for people to do testings and readings, along with other activities. There will also be a tour of the hall that will take about 15 minutes.
“The main focus is to get people down here, to check out the building, and see what we are doing,” said Kari Frame, operations director.
Many of IU South Bend nursing, dental and health science students will be working some of the tables. The HealthLinc, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and campus Health and Wellness Center will be represented as well.
The St. Joseph Regional Medical Center will offer mammogram screenings from 12-4 p.m. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome as the schedule permits.
“If somebody has insurance they are usually covered for the mammograms, and you do not have to be a part of IUSB to be involved in the Healthy Titan Tailgate,” said Frame.
To set up an appointment for the mammogram screening call, 574-335-4500.
The Healthy Titan Tailgate is open to everyone and each table will have giveaways.
“Healthy snacks. There will be apples oranges, bananas, and water, not your typical tailgate snacks,” said Frame.
Since Vera Z. Dwyer Hall has been open they have started classes, and HealthLinc and the Health and Wellness Center have been up and running. They will soon have a pharmacy in the building as well. People can see all of the new things in the building during the event.
