Men’s Golf finishes last in Crosstown Classic

    The IU South Bend men’s golf team completed their final round of the Crosstown Classic on the August 25. This was their first tournament kicking off the season.

    The Titans went to Swan Lake Golf Resort in Plymouth to compete with Holy Cross and Bethel.

    Last season the Titans finished second in the tournament.

    In the first round the Titans golfed a combined score of 317. They would be tied for last with Bethel who also had a combined score of 317. Holy Cross led with a commanding score of 304.

    Going into the second and final round the Titans would improve on their score going 306. It would be a -11 stroke difference between round one and round two. However, the Titans would still finish last with a final tournament score of 623.

    Bethel finished second going 619 and Holy Cross would win it concisely going 593.

    Payton Grubbs of IU South Bend finished fourth in individual play. Grubbs shot a 72 in round one and a 78 in round two, resulting in a total score of 150. He finished best out of all Titans golfers with +6 to par.
