Preface Report
Associate Editor of Wolfson Press David James passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, according to multiple reports.
Multiple students reported seeing James, who was also a well-known local political activist and musician, being removed from the Education and Arts Building on a stretcher around 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17.
According to a statement released by Chancellor Terry Allison, that was after James had collapsed on a stairway in that building. An IU South Bend Health Sciences student and an IUPD cadet provided James care until an ambulance arrived, the statement said.
“David was a familiar face on campus,” Allison wrote. “He will be dearly missed.”
IUSB’s Student Counseling Center will be available to help students cope with the loss, according to the statement.
