Phone Scams
IU South Bend University Information Technology Services wants student to be aware of a phone phishing attempt that has been targeting IUSB claiming to be from the U.S. Treasury Department. Scammers have been leaving messages that claim the target will be arrested and prosecuted for tax fraud. UITS advises students not to call them back.
Schurz Library Receives a Substantial Gift
Emeritus Professor of Music David Barton has honored his mother by giving a $300,000 gift to the Franklin D. Schurz Library in her name. The gift will establish the Dorothy B. Barton Memorial Fund. According to IUSB.edu, the gift will fund the “archive of PLATO & the Western Tradition, along with the digitization and discovery of other recordings and scores from the IU South Bend Music Department.” The fund will go towards the overall goal of the IUSB Bicentennial Campaign.
Scholarship deadline approaching
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences want all CLAS majors to take advantage of the many scholarships they have to offer. CLAS majors interested in applying may apply online with IUSB’s Online Scholarship Application by March 10.
The following scholarships are being offered:
- The Dean’s Scholarships
- The Gerkin Scholarship
- The J. Wesley and Roberta Robbins Scholarship
- The Bender Scholars Program
A Celebration of Dance: Digital Age
Feb. 23 is the first performance of “A Celebration of Dance: Digital Age” it will begin at 7 p.m. at the Upstage in Northside Hall. Performances are scheduled from Thursday, Feb. 23 through Saturday, Feb. 25 with tickets ranging between $5 and $9. Tickets are free to students and children. The performance will feature many different styles of dance, including: tap dances, African American contemporary dances, Middle Eastern dance and much more.
