My name is Randall Mossman, and I am beginning my first semester writing for The Preface. I am a junior at IU South Bend majoring in mass communication, journalism, and minoring in political science.
The path that I am taking now is not the one I imagined myself taking when I was a freshman.
My original major was graphic design, but I changed that in the fall of 2014 to journalism for a few reasons. Firs, I felt as though I had lost the desire to design things that I had a few years prior.
Second, I found that I greatly enjoy traveling around and reporting back on what I discover. I hope my experience lands me an internship with a local company in the fall semester, and then I hope to graduate in December.
The one thing that I want to do above all else is travel. I want to see as much of the world as possible. I constantly think of places I would like to go, only to realize that I never have enough money to afford the trip. After I graduate, I hope to pursue a career that allows me to travel to different places in the world.
As to what I would report on, I would be open to a lot of topics. I would be happy to delve into major issues, make documentary-style films, or even be a sports correspondent, since I thoroughly enjoy watching them whenever I get the chance.
One area that I struggle with is meeting new people and talking to them. I hope that my time at The Preface allows me to better my social skills and meet plenty of new people.
