People say that the hardest part about writing is the beginning. I’m here to say that’s true because I’m stuck trying to come up with an interesting way of saying hello.
At this point, it’s probably just best to say, “Hello, IUSB.”
I’m Jim Irizarry. I’m a staff writer for The Preface. The average career path usually starts after college. I’m doing things in reverse—career first, then college. I worked on-air in radio for the better part of 15 years under assumed names, mostly at rock stations in Lafayette, Fort Wayne, and here in South Bend. (First IUSB student NOT on The Preface staff to tell me what my radio name was/is wins a cookie!)
For the last couple of years, I’ve been trying my hand at various podcasts and shows while being a full-time student here at IUSB.
As you have figured out by now, I’m a little bit older than most of you reading this. Think Jeff from “Community.” I won’t lie; it’s been odd, yet interesting, being in classes where I’m older than the professor.
That said, they have demonstrated that they know way more than I do. They know more than you, too. They definitely know that you wrote that paper last week using Wikipedia instead of actual sources, Todd.
I’m hoping to get more than a fancy piece of paper with some fancy writing on it and a good job out of my time here. Hopefully, you are, too. See you around, and good luck!
