The IU Board of Trustees recently approved the renovation of Riverside Hall at a meeting of the Indiana State Budget Committee on Friday, Oct 9, WNDU reported.

Riverside Hall is located on Northside Blvd. in front of the river. The hall was built in 1969 and used to be home to IU South Bend’s dental hygiene clinic until their move to the Education and Arts building last fall.

The renovations will make Riverside Hall the Health & Wellness Center’s new home. The Health & Wellness Center is currently located in the Student Activities Center’s main floor.

This past spring, the Health and Wellness Center expanded its services to the public. The university added new parking spaces for Health and Wellness Center patients.

Students may have noticed the new spots when they returned for the fall semester. The spaces are in the Student and Activities Center parking lot.

“We just opened to the community this past April for STD regards due to the St. Joseph Health Department no longer offering testing or treatment. Since we have added that to our scope, we are now able to see the community if they are sick or need STD services,” said Health and Wellness Clinic operations director Kari Frame.

With more room in Riverside, more services can be provided for the community and patients will have more parking available to them.

“We are hoping to move in either December 2016 or January 2017. With a bigger clinic, we can provide more services for the students and community. With the move, we are hoping to add x-ray services as well,” Frame said.
