A team-up between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches brought in donations and support from local volleyball fans Friday, Oct. 9, when Titan Volleyball faced off against the Goshen College Leafs.
With free admission to the event, IU South Bend played host to the Coaches vs. Cancer volleyball game. Although they suffered a loss to the Leafs, the Titans were able to support a good cause and bring in donations, all of which went to the American Cancer Society.
Throughout the duration of the game, announcers offered promotions and tips encouraging a healthy lifestyle and information on cancer awareness.
Before and during the game, the Titans hosted a silent auction featuring donated items from Titan Athletics along with various gift baskets provided by the public. Winners were announced following the end of the second set.
To end the event, the Titans welcomed anyone who made a donation of $1 to join them on the court and test their serving skills. Various prizes were written on paper and placed on the court for contestants to hit with their serve. Many people rushed to the courts to take place in the event and support the fight against cancer.
