The Titans volleyball team was back home Tuesday, Sept. 22, after two road wins on Saturday, Sept. 19, and defeated the Crimson Wave of Calumet College of St. Joseph.
The Titans defeated the Crimson Wave in straight sets 25-13, 25-17 and 25-19.
The Titans utilized a potent offense, solid defense and a sound service game en route to victory, led by Sophomore Ashley McClintock with nine kills and Junior Sierra Conklin with seven kills.
“We’re initially running our offense quick and effective,” said head coach Jamie Ashmore. “When someone’s having a good game, we’ve got to keep going to them. If their arm’s hot you go to it.”
The Titans, who have appeared sloppy and incoherent at times, are finally coming together as a team, with the mental mistakes that had been plaguing them in earlier games this season becoming fewer and further between.
“They’re starting to get into the flow of who they are,” Ashmore said. “Knowing what the person next to them does, what their strengths and weaknesses are, is something that’s really helping us right now.”
But Ashmore knows that more work is needed to keep improving and have her team play a complete game.
