The Access to Care Day is an event inviting students and the general public to experience high quality dental care at no cost. Patients will be examined by dental hygiene students and dentists.

The Access to Care Day will provide procedures such as extractions and fillings, depending the needs of the patient.

Also, there will be opportunities for oral cancer screenings for every patient examined. If there is a need for a patient to get a cleaning, there will be an opportunity for the patient to receive a $5 coupon to receive a cleaning at the IUSB Dental Hygiene Clinic at a later date.

In addition to the dental care provided, there will be a Health Fair taking place that will provide patients with promotional door prizes and entertainment that will keep patients busy as they wait or have already finished with their procedures.

The Dental Hygiene students are dedicated and inspired to help those in need of dental care.

Janeé Bryant, a dental hygiene student who is involved with organizing the Access to Care Day, said that “your mouth is the gateway to the rest of your body.”

It is very important to have your mouth and teeth examined professionals in order for individuals to maintain their own personal health.

“I volunteered last year and I was so inspired,” said Erin Szweda, a dental hygiene student who is also involved in organizing the Access to Care Day.

This event is such a great opportunity to receive high quality dental care at no cost, according to organizers.

The Dental Hygiene Clinic has posters around campus regarding the Access to Care Day, as well as, announcements on the news and radio to get the word out about this opportunity.
