First Fridays: Under the Big Top

Downtown South Bend comes alive on the first Friday of every month. For the people who want to explore downtown South Bend and get to know the shops, art galleries, restaurants and more, First Fridays, are a great opportunity. Movies, live music and other entertainment are just a few of the special events happening Friday, April 3.

South Bend Civic Theatre Presents Monty Python’s Spamalot

Friday, April 3, 7:30pm; Saturday, April 4, 2:00pm & April 4, 7:30pm

Come experience a show of endless jokes and laughs at the South Bend Civic Theatre on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4. King Arthur and his crew will be putting on an award winning show that would be sure to spark a few smiles in the crowd. Follow the cast as they make their way through the Black Knight and the Lady of the Lake.

Great Golden Egg Hunt

Saturday, April 4 at 10am

The Easter holiday is fast approaching and a person cannot think of Easter without an Easter egg hunt. Several area parks will be holding an outdoor Easter egg hunt on Saturday April 4th starting at 10am. Parks include: Ferrettie/Baugo Creek, Bendix Woods, and St. Patrick’s County Park and Spicer Lake Nature Preserve. Staff will hide ONE golden egg along a trail in each of the parks that will hold prices that include canoe rentals, disc golf, and summer fun packs. Gate fee will be in effect.

Boomer and Beyond: Spring Walking Program

Wednesday, April 8 from 10am-11:15am or 2:00pm-3:15pm

St. Patrick’s County Park in South Bend will be hosting a fitness walk around its scenic trails. Everyone is welcome to join and meet other people who are interested in fitness walking. The walk will also include brain activities from Memorial BrainWorks to boost walkers health and wellness while they enjoy the great outdoors. The fee is $18 per person. Registration and payment are required by Friday, April 3rd, be sure to specify morning or afternoon session.

Mr. Dunkle and the Circus

Monday, April 6 at 6:30pm

The MPHPL Harris Branch in Granger will be presenting John Kovach, archivist at Saint Mary’s College on Monday, April 6. Kovach will be introducing visitors to the exciting world of William Dunkle, a prominent newspaper columnist during the period of 1890-1940. Kovach will provide scrapbooks from the time and a record of the circus in the Michiana area during that time.
